How will young girls be impacted this fall when their male counterparts – or their cattier female peers – begin playing “Fat Princess,” one of the newest video games from Sony Corporation?
The object of the game is to feed a princess with cakes until she becomes too heavy for one’s opponent to lift and carry away.
What irks me more than the incessant retreading of female stereotypes in cultural artifacts for boys (and girls) is the assumption made by the major news outlets on Monday that ONLY feminists would be offended by “Fat Princess.” Unless all human decency is reserved for feminists – and I assume it is not – then could you please name me one self respecting person who would be overjoyed by this addition to the digital universe?
